On the negatives, some of the dialogue was corny. But that's a small nitpick in an otherwise great animated film. The voice acting was pretty spot on. I cant wait for the next DC animated film.

I was quite surprised as I had not payed attention to the rating and missed the R. The movie was quite violent and graphic for a DC movie, and the comedy is well placed to lighten the mood, but it was refreshing to see anime style violence in an animated 'superhero' movie. It was also very interesting that the entire story revolved around a chance of true salvation, and served as a continuation of a previous DC film.
Suicide Squad lives up to the name, and though I am not one of the haters of the live action film, I feel this one was much better and leaves me wondering what could have been with the live action movie.

I highly recommend this movie. It's not just a good DC film but a good animated film for both comic and non-comic book reading fans.

Life is both very precious and also very, very cheap in this R-rated adventure that sees Task Force X sent by Amanda Waller on a secret mission to obtain a supernatural McGuffin, whose nature is too spoilerish to reveal but suffice to say it offers something every character wants. And for this cross-section of DC supervillainy, that's plenty reason to be even more cutthroat than usual.
As this is an off-the-books mission for the Squad, they are stripped of their usual resources and gear and are reduced to driving across country in an RV in what amounts to a road trip comedy about a dysfunctional family (of sorts). Think of it as Little Miss Hellfire.
If this is a dysfunctional family then think of Deadshot and Bronze Tiger as the bickering parents who have different ways of handling their difficult brood, which includes Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Killer Frost, and Copperhead. Deadshot is the grizzled, Eastwood-esque pragmatist, while Bronze Tiger, although a man with a violent past, is ultimately a good guy who believes in a higher order and divine justice.
The rest of the characters, good (ok, mostly bad) and bad (all bad), all hold varying degrees of belief depending on their individual circumstances. It's this exploration of faith and redemption that sets Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay apart from other DC animated fare and makes for a more intellectually engaging comic book flick than most.
Hell to Pay is also distinguished by its dark, droll wit, which is evident not only in Alan Burnett's script (which he claims is his last one before retirement) but also by Sam Liu's direction. Whether it's the glib, cutting one-liners or the cheekily placed sight gags (sometimes involving Gideon Emery 's Copperhead), Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay proves to be one of the more grimly amusing DC animated films. That humor helps make the film's larger dramatic points more palpable.
The voice cast help deliver these much-needed laughs to lighten what is ultimately a rather heavy story about sin and salvation. Christian Slater makes for an appropriately sardonic Deadshot, while Billy Brown imbues Bronze Tiger with a gravitas and dignity befitting a character far too honorable to be among a team this bad. Liam McIntyre's Boomerang and Tara Strong's Harley get the lion's share of notable one-liners, although Hell to Pay still does little to convince one why the baseball bat-wielding, incessantly mercurial Harley is needed on a team tasked with obtaining a supernatural item - besides the film needing comic relief.
Hands down, Greg Grunberg gets the movie's biggest scene-stealing role as Maxum Steel, a d-bag with ties to the mainstream DC Comics that will hilariously surprise you. He provides a key to the puzzle that Task Force X needs to solve. The movie's handling of all that proves to be one of its highlights. Kristin Bauer van Straten is also notable in a less comedic role as the always chilly Killer Frost.
Less effective are Vanessa Williams, who never quite manages to make Amanda Waller command your attention the way a character nicknamed 'The Wall' should, and Jim Pirri as Vandal Savage, a raspy, vaguely foreign-sounding heavy who isn't terribly interesting or dynamic.
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay is populated with a slew of familiar DC characters in roles of varying degrees of significance: Steel Savage, Knockout, Professor Pyg, Zoom, Silver Banshee, Blockbuster, Tobias Whale, Count Vertigo, Punch & Judy, and even Two-Face all pop up. The movie could almost work as a stand-alone film if needed as it has no problem killing off characters you'd suspect might be too notable to dispatch. But then a movie called 'Suicide Squad' wouldn't have much impact if no one died.
These deaths certainly lend weight to the overall story as the prospect of a permanent demise - and what, if anything, may await them on the other side - looms large over the entire story. The saying goes that everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die and that holds true even for comic book characters.

The movie is rather 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly'--esque as it involves Deadshot and the rest of the Suicide Squad locked in a race between two other group of villains for a particular item. I won't spoil what it is, but it's far more interesting than say wealth or a weapon. What with all these villains, there's a lot of good fight sequences and interesting character interaction. The plot also does a good job of balancing humor, drama, and action.
The one thing that bugs me about this film is that Deadshot's motivation is seeing his daughter again, which is the exact same thing they did for the other two films. Don't get me wrong, the film still does a good job of humanizing Deadshot with this, but there are other ways.

This time our team includes Deadshot, Harley, Boomerang, Copperhead, Killer Frost & Bronze Tiger in an interesting little three way battle against Zoom, Blockbuster & Banshee and third team of Vandal Savage, Scandal Savage and their goons.
The whole thing is over a mysterious card that saves a person from hell and their motivations are quite interesting. Then we have the usual brand of DC action and the film is a passable effort, but just that...passable.
Hell To Pay doesn't meet its potential and I'm not 100% on why that is. Maybe it needed more time, perhaps the story needed fleshing out more? Regardless it didn't grip me like Assault on Arkham did.
I'd say this is a good watch for big fans, a passable one for casual ones but maybe a hard pass for everyone else.
The Good:
It's the Suicide Squad!
Interesting plot
Ties Flashpoint Paradox (2013)
The Bad:
Christian slater
Behaves like Assault On Arkham never happened
Harley looks like a dude in drag a lot of the time
Underwhelming
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
If a head is encased in ice when it explodes both it and the ice will still remain intact despite blowing everything up around it
Harley always walks that fine line between fascinating and deeply annoying
Amanda Wallers weight fluctuates dramatically between movies

This time around we are given an R rated version of the squad that has an all around darker tone. Gone are the cute quips, except for Harley who surprisingly is really only a background comic relief character. This group is mainly headlined by Deadshot, the crook with a heart, and Bronze Tiger, the good man turned vigilante. These two were enjoyable to watch butting heads especially with Boomerang constantly making things worse. The whole group dynamic was great seeing that more than four characters had a good amount of screen time.
Hell to Pay was darker than I was expecting it to be. I know it was rated R but so was Justice League Dark and there wasn't too much there to warrant that rating. This however does as some of the scenes where just brutal for animated standards. Not only the action but Deadshot's character arc is dark.
A Suicide Squad movie tends to be interesting when the team's members start flipping their alliances and are put in tight situations where the bad guys have to check their moral compasses. This movie definitely delivers in those departments. That is another benefit to these animated movies, they are not really marketed in no shape or form like the live action. As in viewers will actually be surprised at the twists when they unfold. This movie actually has twists and character inclusions that I wasn't expecting and was overjoyed to see. Hell to Pay is a great addition to the DC lineup and should be seen by DC fans or people who enjoy a good heist movie.

I'm especially happy that they made this for an older audience. I'd so much as to say it even beats the pathetic PG-13 Suicide Squad movie with Will Smith!
Watch this movie without knowing much or anything about it and I promise you, you will be pleasantly surprised.

This movie filled with death (an and a small bit of.. strange nudity) and much of it is rather stylized. And this is well in excess of normal Suicide Squad head explosions. This is on par with Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction but with Harley Quinn and Deadshot around.
Its also a solid mcguffin tale. Everything about this story is, 'Get that one thing!' Which may not be too bad if you enjoy stories driven by character motivations over possessing a specific object.
Personally, I felt a lot of it was going for 'edgy' and 'shocking' rather than 'compelling' or 'engaging.' Far too often the events of the story seemed to be about going to places DC isn't supposed to go and doing things comics don't do solely for the sake of doing it. This wouldn't be a bad thing if it had been built on something more substantial. As it is, this feels like more like a gory hard-R Expendables film than a Suicide Squad story.

This is more of the DC universe pulled thinner by unimaginative creators working for a quick pay check.
The voice acting is weak and by the numbers. There's a mellow voiced goth girl, a growling whisperer, a posh semi British guy - all the stereotype voices are present.
The movie is full of dull situations that make no sense. A super villain rides a villain train. People break in to kill him. He has no mechanism to separate his car, near the front, from the rest of the train. What?
The story mocks Christianity. Of course has leftist themes and references - the only example given of sexual misconduct in Washington is a Republican story - hey, that big one with President Clinton getting a BJ under the WH desk is out there, leftist folks.
This is bad bad bad x10 bad and even more bad.

1. Animation and pace is awful, same goes for jokes and 'funny scenes'. It has been made so badly that it is even hard to watch. TO be fair 70% of my bad rating is just for quality of animation, it's like technologies goes more advance so you would assume that it would be easier to make better animation but nope. But NO, I'm not just complaining about quality, but more about how it is put together when you have a lot of awkward silence and just badly executed jokes, it just made all characters like not using their potential and from latest I have seen Gasoline light and 'Batman and Harley Quinn' and both from animation perspective was better .
2. Plot was ..too much overused props (story-wise) , badly put together and nothing that would exciting or eye catching.
I can recommend this only to fans, as any expansion of DC cinematic/animation universe is great thing but it would be so much better if they would put more effort as it seems they don't even try. Yeah, I'm harsh but thats how I see this, so I'm really hoping Batman Ninja will be amazing and will make forgot this. (need to wait for uk release).

For once this movie hasn't shoved Batman or Joker down our throats. Like the other two movies did. Although we do see a flashback from Flashpoint with batman and Joker is mentioned once.
The voice acting is out standing Tara Strong actually sounds better as Harley Quinn in this movie then her previous performances is the character. I am glad Christian Slater got a chance got to voice a more serious Deadshot then his goofy take in JLA. I also like the fact that C Thomas Howell returned after 5 years to reprise his role as Professor Zoom.
Although I am still baffled about how on earth did Zoom survive his head shot from Flashpoint Paradox and why did he not try an revenge Flash but instead gain a beef with Task Force X. To be honest though I wish they never killed him off because he could have been good for more future New52 movies and we could have seen Christopher Gorham (the voice of Flash) have chemistry with C Thomas Howell (the voice of Zoom). Also the change of origin for Killer Frost was questionable (being abused as a kid) seriously?
If you want something which is very bloody, over the top violent and doesn't have Batman or Joker but still has the Suicide Squad in. I would recomand you watch this.
