New 3ds Serial Number

New

You don't seem to be using your new Nintendo anymore. The two models without opening the box (different serial number perhaps?).

  1. Latest batch of 'New' 3DS Xl don't come with IPS screens.

New 3ds Xl Serial Number

Afternoon All
Having recently gone through 4 Black and 1 Blue EU un-opened new stock 'New' 3DS Xls I've only come across TN panels for the top and bottom screen.
I remember two years ago, 3 friends had top IPS screens on their 'New' 3DS Xls. (blue, red, and Animal Crossing edition)
Has Nintendo in preparation for the now released 'New' 2DS XL only used the TN screen supplier and but both their 'New' 3DS Xls and 2DS XLs on the same production line.
In conclusion: if you want an IPS screen on your 'New' 3DS XLs go for the used market or new if its an old batch from 2 years ago.
One of the Serial numbers I had with the TN panel was : QEF10759562#
PEACE.

Here's a good test to see if your screens are any good.
Do they turn on?
Do they display in color?
Are they free of dead pixels?
In the case of a 3D-capable model, does it display the 3D?
If you answered yes to every question, congrats! You got good screens.
What's that? TN? IPS? Screen lottery? That's about as important as the weird white rock on my backyard.

I ordered three galaxy models from Amazon last month. All of them IPS top and TN bottom. Quite happy as IPS looks better but drains more battery. How much more on any front? IDC but I'm sure glad I got the best of both worlds as most action is up top. I'd say your best bet is Amazon US. They're only 175 right now if you have prime.
I miss the days when I had a favorite video game character with runners up. Now no one comes to mind

Never settle for those garbage TN panels. Colors are dull and washed out on TN. Viewing angles are abyssmal on TN. Super Stable 3D on TN is not as good as Super Stable 3D on an IPS panel. Horrible screens to have on a 3DS.
The difference between a TN panel unit to an IPS panel unit is like comparing a GBA SP AGS-001 (TN) to a GBA SP AGS-101 (IPS)

In the end I did settle on a 'New' 2DS XL, Compared it to the 'New' 3DS XL
3DS XL longer battery life, has a larger battery
3DS XL has better audio, the 2DS XL sounds muffled and tinny less spacious.
Both the 2DS XL AND 3DS XL use the same TN panels.
As gimmicky as the 3D slider function can be, its definitely worth the extra money.
Both handhelds have upper hinge wobble, they click fine but have some loose-ness.
I'm gonna get a IPS 'new' 3DS XL one day but I gotta admit some positives for the 2DS XL
1. I feel like you can throw it around without worrying it'll break.
2. its not top heavy like the 3DS XL, its so light in the hands.
3. the entire top half on the 2DS XL has a really clean look to it.
Forget dual IPS screens, I would still personally just take a IPS top TN bottom screen 3DS XL over a 2DS XL.
However I would take a 2DS XL over a dual TN 3DS XL

I just checked my GBA SP after seeing this picture and I have the AGS-001 model. It looks great to me so I wonder how much better the 101 model looks in real life. Does the DS Lite also come in 2 models?

The 2 SP models actually have completely different screens. They even advertised the improved screen on the second model when it was released. The first one uses a standard GBA screen with lights on edge. The second model has a new backlit display, comparable to the ones found on the DS lite. One downside of the second SP model is that you aren't able to turn off the light. The light button instead let's you toggle between different levels of brightness.

That might be the case if you were using something like a PC monitor...but for a tiny 240p screen? Its not worth stressing over. The only small difference is only noticeable if you are comparing both side to side. If people didn't know about that small tiny difference, they wouldn't even care. Its not like you would be ignorant of the two different screen types, buy a 3DS and say 'Gee this screen is really s***ty for some reason'
I have both TN and IPS monitors for my PC's. After a few weeks, you don't even notice the differences anymore.

Colors are not dull and washed out on a TN. They are garish and overly-saturated on an IPS screen. 3DS games were developed with TN screens in mind, as that is the first and majority of LCD displays on 3DS systems.
Not only that, but the IPS screens suffer from black crush due to poorer black levels. This results in complete loss in shadow detail for dark games such as Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Resident Evil Revelations, etc.
IPS screens also drain the battery faster than TN screens, and have slightly slower response times (pixel transition).
The AGS-101 has noticeable ghosting too.

The console is right in front of your damn face.....The F are you doing viewing it at an angle? Viewing angles are important for televisions because people are positioned in different areas of the room. The 3ds is right in front of your melon. That said...IPS is super nice for colors and details that pop more than TN. Angles though are a non issue.
